The interaction of tributyllead with lysosomes from rat liver.
The interactions of tributyllead with lysosomes from rat liver have been studied. It results that the organometal compound induces a fast alkalinization in energized lysosomes. The interpretation is that the compound is a potent proton carrier. This function could explain the toxicity, in particular at neurological level of the compound.
متن کاملThe interaction of methylmercury with lysosomes from rat liver
The interactions of methylmercury with rat liver lysosomes were investigated. The results indicate that methylmercury enhances the proton permeability in membranes. Since this uncoupling mechanism necessarily implies the transport of a charged ion (in this case CH3Hg ) through the membrane, this fact can help to explain why a preferential target of methylmercury are nerve cells, whose plasma me...
متن کاملIsolating Lysosomes from Rat Liver.
This protocol describes the generation of a fraction enriched in lysosomes from rat liver. The lysosomes are rapidly isolated using density-gradient centrifugation with gradient media that retain the osmolarity of the lysosomes such that they are functional and can be used in in vitro assays.
متن کاملEffect of aflatoxin on rat liver lysosomes.
Abalraet--The effect ofafiatoxin on the activities of 5 rat liver lysosomal enzymes (acid deoxyribonuclease, arylsulfatases A and B, ß-glucuronidase, ß-gluoosidase and ß-galactosidase) has been investigated In vivo and t vitro. Threehours afterthe administration of atjatoxin, activities of most of the enzymes increased significantly reaching maximal levels at 48 hr. The activity of acidDNase in...
متن کاملCystine transport in purified rat liver lysosomes.
Amino acid efflux from highly purified rat liver lysosomes exposed to the methyl ester derivatives of leucine, methionine, tyrosine and cystine was examined. The lysosomal efflux of leucine, methionine and tyrosine was unaffected by the presence of MgATP, whereas cystine efflux was stimulated by MgATP. Exposure of lysosomes to 2 mM-MgATP resulted in lysosomal acidification and a 0.5 pH unit inc...
